My education included a tour in the Marine Corps and later two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I received an MFA in Sculpture from East Carolina University in 1983. I created over sixty site-specific architectural environments in the landscape. Many of my projects have been funded by grants or fellowships from numerous organizations, including; South Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, The Danish Cultural Ministry, Taipei City Department of Cultural Affairs, Southern Arts Federation, The Louisiana Division of the Arts, the South Carolina Arts Commission, and the Awards in the Visual Arts, from the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art.

I served as an Artist-in-Residence or Visiting Artist on many occasions since 1987. I worked at botanical gardens, nature preserves, urban centers, rural landscapes, a centuries-old Japanese temple, and schools, museums, and parks.
